A team of seven and eight year-old hockey players is asking Thunder Bay residents for votes to help them win the Rogers Hometown Hockey Cheer Contest.

Several members of the Neebing Novice Devils visited Danny and Laura at the CKPR radio studio Wednesday, talking about the competition and encouraging people to vote for them online next week.

Back in January when the Rogers Hometown Hockey tour made a stop in Thunder Bay the Devils beat out three other local finalists with their team cheer.

Now with the National Finals looming ahead, assistant coach Scott Wrigley says they'll need as many votes as they can get in order to win the Ultimate Hockey Experience.

The team has already been declared the winners for Thunder Bay, which now puts them up against other winning teams with cheers from across the country.

Votes can be cast online at hometownhockey.com under the "Cheer Contest" section, from March 27 until April 1.
