THUNDER BAY -- A family of jay-walking geese found themselves stuck on a busy stretch of Memorial Friday morning.

Dad, Mom and five of their goslings made several risky attempts to cross the street near 12th Avenue, but found themselves unable to find a safe enough moment to make the trek.

A sales rep at Northern Computers says a customer alerted her about the birds just before 9 a.m. She contacted Thunder Bay Animal Control, who could not help because the geese are considered wildlife, and therefore not their jurisdiction.

Officials at the MNR suggested stopping traffic to help the family cross.

Eventually a call was made to the Thunder Bay Police Service, and an officer arrived in time to stop traffic and guide the geese across the roadway.

The family eventually made it to The Salvation Army Thrift Shop parking lot, and then headed to the grassy area behind the plaza.
