THUNDER BAY -- The all-Canadian theme has proven to be a hit with concertgoers getting set to attend next weekend’s  Thunder Bay Blues Festival.

Thunder Bay Auditorium general manager Bob Halvorsen said ticket sales have far exceeded expectations.

“We’re on track to have the best year yet,” Halvorsen said, reached by phone on Wednesday.

“The reaction to this lineup has been outstanding. People are just really, really happy with the all-Canadian lineup.”

This year’s Blues Fest features a trio of high-profile headliners, including Colin James, Tom Cochrane and Burton Cummings.

But the talent doesn’t end at the top.

April Wine, Gowan, Serena Ryder, Jonas and the Massive Attraction and the Downchild Blues Band are on a bill that also includes the likes of Steve Strongman, David Gogo, the Devin Cuddy Band, Dawn Tyler Watson, Jack De Keyzer, Steve Hill, the Carson Downey Band and Terra Lightfoot.

There are plenty of local acts too.

Camden Blues will open the Festival on Friday, followed by the return of James Boraski and Memory Evolution.

Loose Cannon kicks off Saturday afternoon, while The Roosters and the Chain will have an hour each on Sunday.

Blues Festival runs July 8 to 10 at Marina Park.
