THUNDER BAY - The annual month-long SHAD Valley program wound down as 65 of Canada's brightest students prepared to say farewell to Thunder Bay and to each other.
The 17th SHAD Valley summer program at Lakehead University has wrapped up this week.
Leanne Varney arrived at Lakehead University earlier this month from Hundred Mile House, BC. A town of about 2,000 people.
She said her experience here was unforgettable.
Before they said their goodbyes, they were tasked with showcasing their solutions to improve food security for Canadians.
Dr. Sultan Siddiqui said SHAD students were presented with a problem that required them to solve.
“Every year at SHAD Valley we have a theme. This year the theme was food security in Canada,” Siddiqui said.
“Each of the teams were tasked with coming up with new ideas to solve the problem, and what you see here is a sample of those ideas.”
The 65 students were broken into six teams and were given two weeks to come up with a presentation that tackles the issue.
Lakehead was one of 12 campuses across Canada that hosted the SHAD Valley program this year.
