THUNDER BAY -- It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

A group of 20 volunteers picked up trash at The Kaministiqua River Heritage Park Saturday morning, finding all sorts of common trash but also some hazardous items.

A pair of the 20 volunteers went waist deep into the water, removing junk that would eventually flow into Lake Superior if left alone.

The cleanup is part of an Eco-Superior initiative to bring awareness about pollution in our waterways.

Other volunteers picked up garbage on land, finding an assortment of plastics and even used needles.
