THUNDER BAY -- Some lucky students on the Fort William First Nation got a special surprise Monday for when they go back to school.

For the seventh year now, RBC has partnered with Indigenous Organizations across Canada for the RBC Royal Eagles Backpack Program.

Fort William First Nation was one of 39 communities selected for this year's program.

They received $10,000 to purchase backpacks, lunch bags and school supplies for students.

One of these students was Liberty MacLauran and she said she's very thankful to have received a new backpack.

Since the program began in 2010 RBC has donated more than 10,000 backpacks across Canada.
