THUNDER BAY -- The Thunder Bay's 55 Plus Centre is celebrating their 25th anniversary and the celebration is more than just a single day affair.

On Tuesday, the centre hosted a barbecue, the first of 25 activities for their 25th year.

Over the next month, the centre on River Street will be celebrating with a full range of events, from a silver anniversary tea, to guitar jams and tai-chi demonstrations.

The centre has changed a lot over the years, and volunteers who helped get the facility built in 1991 now see their kids or grandkids helping out.

City officials said it proves that the 55 Plus Centre is a huge part of the community.

The final celebration will be held on September 23rd, with a Gala Dinner Dance at the Current River Rec Centre.
