A RIDE program checkpoint Wednesday helped OPP officers nab a man possessing about $5,000 worth of pot.
Officials with the OPP say officers from the Manitouwadge detachment were conducting the RIDE check on Highway 614 just south of Manitouwadge.
Police say they stopped a vehicle at the checkpoint, and after an investigation officers learned that one of the vehicle’s occupants had broken their release conditions while another passenger had outstanding warrants from Thunder Bay.
Following the arrests, police searched the vehicle and found marijuana.
Police did not release the amount of marijuana seized, but estimate the street value to be nearly $5,000.
Nelson Cabral, 25, Paulo Cabral, 33, Clinton Ellis, 35 and Michael Harrop, 34, have all been charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. The suspects are all from Manitouwadge, and are expected to appear in court on March 21 at 9 a.m.
None of the charges against the four suspects have been proven in court.
