Thunder Bay may not be without its direct to Chicago after all.
A week after Thunder Bay Airport officials announced United Airlines was kyboshing the route on April 24 after a 14-month trial, the American carrier said one of its Star Alliance partners intends to pick up where they’re leaving off.
In a tweet sent to Dougall Media on Wednesday, officials with United Airlines indicated Air Canada intends to take over the route, the city’s only regularly scheduled daily direct flight to the United States.
Neither Air Canada nor the Thunder Bay International Airports Authority responded Thursday to requests for confirmation.
