City police are investigating a pair of overnight break ins.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say a wellness centre in the 400 block of South Vickers was entered just before 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Nothing was taken and police say one or more suspects fled the scene by the time officers arrived.

The second break in took place just after 3 a.m. at a dry cleaning business in the 400 block of South Syndicate.

No suspects were at the scene when officers arrived and nothing was taken.

Thunder Bay Police executive officer Chris Adams said both incidents remain under investigation and the close proximity is leading investigators to explore whether they are connected.

“It appears the type of entry was very similar,” Adams said. “Obviously the timing and entry may indicate there is a connection here. It is definitely something investigators will follow up the best they can.”

He added that investigators are also looking into whether these incidents might be related to other commercial breaks ins in Westfort earlier this year.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
