A Thunder Bay woman accused of murder will return to court in March.

Priscilla Thomas, 38, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the Jan. 25 death of Jeffrey Munroe, 35, inside an apartment building on the corner of Kingsway Avenue and Walsh Street.

It was the city's first homicide of 2014.

Thomas appeared via video at the Ontario Court of Justice Thursday and was remanded until March 19.

Police said the investigation revealed a domestic altercation had occurred between Thomas and Munroe, who lived together. The altercation escalated and Munroe was stabbed and police said alcohol was a factor in the incident.

Police responded to an ambulance assistance call at the building at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Jan. 25.

Munroe was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
