Day 2 of the Kesley Jacob manslaughter trial saw testimony from one of the witnesses who was with the accused and the victim that evening at the Victoria Inn.
The 35-year-old Jacob is free on bail as he awaits the outcome of this trial by jury. He's charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of 53-year-old Barney Beaver after a violent incident in December of 2011.
On Tuesday the court heard from Ronnie Anderson, who said he was with Barney, Jacob and a female friend at the hotel.
The witness told the court that Beaver was drunk when they found him in the hotel room with the woman, who was passed out and had her pants pulled down.
He also told the court that Beaver came toward the two men, and Jacob pushed him in the chest, slapped him on the cheek and seconds later punched Beaver in the temple.
Anderson said he jumped in a taxi shortly after, so he wouldn't be blamed for any of the problems.
More Crown witnesses are scheduled to testify Wednesday.
