One driver hospitalized, another charged after morning crash on Oliver Road

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say they responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at the corner of Oliver Road and High Street just after 8 a.m.

Officers say their investigation revealed that a car travelling northbound on High Street crossed into the intersection on a green light, but was struck on the driver’s side by a red SUV that was heading eastbound on Oliver Road.

The 41-year-old driver of the car was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, while a 42-year-old driver of the SUV has been charged with failing to stop for a red light.

Police are asking that anyone with information regarding this collision,  or who may have witnessed it, to contact Acting Sgt. Gordon Snyder, of the Traffic Services Branch at 629-9101 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
