Dozens of city residents are still without water due to frozen pipes, and the wait list to get fixed up remains at about two weeks.
Despite milder temperatures on the horizon, the news isn’t expected to get better for these homeowners overnight. City Environment Manager Kerri Marshall said a few warmer days doesn’t mean instant relief
“The challenge that we face is that because the frost has gone down to a depth of about eight feet in some locations, warmer weather won’t help the situation (right away),” she said.
Marshall added that the city is working with people to make sure they have access to water, and are adjusting bills.
We will be crediting accounts for the fixed charges that are associated with their water bill for the period of time they were without water,” she said in an interview with CKPR Radio.
