Tbaytel has acquired 2,000 new security customers.

The local telecommunications company completed the acquisition of the customers from Star Security Company Tuesday after its company president decided to enter retirement.

Tbaytel's corporate brand communication manager Katie Crowe said they provide the same home and commercial security services Star Security did and after about two months of negotiations, they were ready to incorporate the new customers.

"With the transition of customers, you're looking at making sure their experience is seamless, that they don't experience any loss of service. They won't experience any increase in fees," said Crowe.

"We want to make sure the experience they have coming to Tbaytel is efficient and something they're comfortable with," she added.

Tbaytel has been providing security services since 2007 and Crowe said they were already set up with the equipment and resources needed for the acquisition; they also hired three former Star Security employees.

Star Security Company had been providing electronic security systems since 1997 in the region.

"We built the success of Star Security by building solid relationships with our clients and I would like to thank them all for their continued loyalty over the years," said president Michael Hunneau in a release issued by Tbaytel.

"Tbaytel is a local company and a trusted partner and I am confident that Tbaytel's security team will continue to protect the things that have always mattered most to our customers."
