Thousands of Thunder Bay Hydro customers were without power Wednesday afternoon. At one point, as many as 3,800 customers were left without service.
Hydro officials were unsure what caused the outage but said the problem was underground.
It affected most of Northwood and parts of Westfort. Sherbrooke Elementary School, St. Francis and St. Vincent schools were all affected, although power was only out for up to 45 minutes.
The outage was fixed quickly for most Hydro customers. But some areas were without power for extended periods of time, including complete blocks of Simon Fraser Drive, North James Street and West Churchill.
