THUNDER BAY -- Two people are in the hospital following a head-on crash Thursday.
Arthur Street was closed just west of Mapleward Road after a car and an SUV collided. Thunder Bay Fire Rescue were needed to help remove both drivers from their vehicles.
Both were sent to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre where they will be treated for their injuries.
"It's safe to say that both drivers in each vehicle were seriously injured in the crash," Capt. John Kaplanis said.
While the collision was still under investigation, Kaplanis said road conditions were likely a factor.
"If people could slow down in conditions like this, certainly these incidents would be occurring a lot less," he said.
