City announces opening of public pools and beaches

THUNDER BAY -- The city has announced the season’s opening of outdoor pools and public beaches. Residents will be able to swim at the city’s outdoor pools and public beaches starting Friday.

Residents will be able to swim at the city’s outdoor pools and public beaches starting Friday. 

The Heath and Widnall pools will open to the public on Friday at 6 p.m., while the Dease pool is slated for a 5:30 p.m. opening that same day.

“All pools are inspected by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit prior to opening each season,” said Marko Litwinenko, supervisor of the city’s aquatic services.

“We are pleased to open the facilities for some summer fun.”

Boulevard Lake’s main beach is scheduled to open at 5 p.m. Friday, while Sandy Beach at Chippewa Park will open at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
