THUNDER BAY -- A 52-year-old man remains in critical condition after a vicious Tuesday morning assault on the city’s southside.

Thunder Bay Police Service officials say officers responded to the scene at the corner of May and Donald Streets just after 2:30 a.m. following a 911 call by a passerby.

Police say four people were involved in the incident. Three men and one woman fled the scene before police arrived.

The injured man appears to have been the victim of a robbery.

Police are now looking for the four suspects involved. The three men are described as Aboriginal, one thin and two heavier set. The other suspect is described as a five-foot-four Aboriginal woman.

Police did not have any further details about these four suspects.

Investigators do want to speak with the good samaritan who was able to provide assistance to the victim by dragging him off the street onto the sidewalk.

This individual did not stay to speak to police.

At the time of the incident, a few vehicles drove by the scene. Investigators would also like those individuals to come forward as they may be able to assist in the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Thunder Bay Police Service’s criminal investigations branch at 684-1237 or Crime Stoppers at www.tipsubmit.com.
