THUNDER BAY -- Ontario’s Premier is in Northwestern Ontario.

It's Kathleen Wynne's first trip to the region since she secured a majority government in the June provincial election.

The Premier was in the Far North Tuesday, travelling to Marten Falls First Nation.  That's where the Annual General Meeting of the Matawa First Nations was being held and Wynne was the special guest.

Back in May Wynne signed a Framework Agreement with the Matawa Chiefs, promising to work with them to develop the Ring of Fire mining area.

Wynne will also make a stop in Thunder Bay on Wednesday.

A news conference regarding the Regional Research Institute is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital.
