City sells off more than $700,000 in surplus land

THUNDER BAY -- The city is selling off more than $700,000 worth of surplus land. It's also planning on another $31,700 land exchange after a closed session meeting Monday followed by the last city council meeting before the Oct. 27 election.

Vacant lands near Eira Street are being sold to 2272696 Ontario Limited for $226,470. The city is then going to buy a portion of 840 Field Street for $31,700 from that company and sell it for the same price to 1037717 Ontario Limited. The city is also selling that company portions of Field Street, Shanly Street and Mooney Avenue for $198,700.

All of those lands along with 951 Memorial Avenue, which is Lakehead Motors, 951 and 961 Eira Street, 840 Field Street and 502 16 th Ave. will then be designated as an area of site plan control.

The city is also selling 1325 Paquette Road to Mikko Koivisto for $308,000.
