THUNDER BAY -- A second person is facing a murder charge in the Canada Day homicide case earlier this year while police are searching for a third suspect.

Becky Mamawka appeared at the Thunder Bay Courthouse on Monday morning where she was arraigned on a second degree murder charge in the killing of 52-year-old Christopher Adams.

She, along with 31-year-old Carl Spencer Rae, had previously been facing one count of aggravated assault. Rae had his charge upgraded in October.

During the proceedings the Crown attorney told the court that there is now a third co-accused in the case, who is still at-large.

Thunder Bay Police executive officer Chris Adams confirmed a third suspect, 26-year-old Kyle Stoney, is being sought under an arrest warrant as the investigation continues.

The victim was violently assaulted outside city hall in the early morning hours of July 1. Police were called to the corner of May and Donald Streets around 2:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from a passerby.

Adams died in hospital on July 8.

At the time of the incident police said four people were involved and that robbery appeared to be a motivation.

Mamakwa, who had been out on conditional release since Sept. 12, was granted $1,000 bail to live with family in Deer Lake.

Rae remains in custody.

Rae and Mamakwa are due back in court on Friday.
