Federal government gives remote community $12M for generating station upgrade
THUNDER BAY -- The remote community of Kasabonika Lake First Nation is getting a major upgrade to its diesel generating station.
The Federal government has announced the awarding of a $12 million contract for the project.
The work includes replacement of the existing fuel storage tanks, addition of a generator room and replacement of several auxiliary systems.
Construction is scheduled to begin next spring.
Kasabonika Lake First Nation is located about 460-kilometres northeast of Sioux Lookout.
