Power restored after brief north side outage

THUNDER BAY -- Thousands of northside residents were left without power for just a half-hour Tuesday morning.

THUNDER BAY -- Thousands of northside residents were left without power for just a half-hour  Tuesday morning.

Officials with Thunder Bay Hydro are looking into the cause of the power disruption, which knocked out street lights at several major northside intersections just before 11 a.m.

Thunder Bay Hydro’s vice-president of customer service Tim Wilson said about 4,400 customers in total were left without power during the outage.  He also said that the utility received some reports of a pole sparking on Golf Links Road.

“Crews were working nearby, which was good, so we were able to get the power restored in a half-hour’s time for everybody.”
