Kian Fleming will never have trouble remembering his birthday.
On Thursday he became the city’s first baby born in 2015, the third son of proud parents Jaiden and Mark Fleming, an air ambulance pilot who flew all night, only to arrive at home in the morning to learn his wife was going into labour.
Kian arrived at 11:34 a.m., weighing in at a healthy eight pounds, 10 ounces.
His mother, exhausted, but content, said she was shocked to learn she’d given birth to the New Year’s baby.
“Just to have him so late in the day and (find out) that no one else had one late in the night (was surprising),” Jaiden Fleming said.
“You picked a pretty good birthday,” she whispered to her newborn. “It’ll be a nice story for him some day.”
Asked about his unique name, Jaiden Fleming said "we just thought of it."
Kian’s joins brothers Ayvan, 4, and Camden, 2, in the growing family.
