The NDP MP for Thunder Bay-Rainy River on Friday was named his party’s official opposition critic for pensions.

In a release, Rafferty said he was proud to take over the responsibility.

“Tom Mulcair’s NDP is focused on making the economy work for Canadians. Retirement security and enhancing both public and private pension plans are integral to achieving this,” said Rafferty, who plans to draw on his experience helping displaced workers at Buchanan Forest Products when that company filed for bankruptcy.
