DRYDEN, Ont. – Contract talks for more than 500 employees at the Domtar mill have broken down.

A media release by Unifor says recent talks between the company and union officials for workers at the Dryden mill have now “hit an impasse.”

The workers include 225 production, maintenance and office members in Local 105 as well as 300 wood harvesting, chipping and hauling members in Local 324.

“We will now attempt to find a way to bridge the gap and also implement the Eastern Canada Pulp and Paper Pattern with Domtar through the conciliation process prior to taking any potential strike action,” Unifor national staff representative Stephen Boon said in the release.

The previous contract expired on Aug. 31, 2014.
