Police seize crack cocaine, prescription pills and money in two busts

THUNDER BAY -- Two city drug busts have led to the seizure of crack cocaine and nearly $50,000 in cash.

The Thunder Bay Police Service gang unit conducted their first bust at the Greyhound Bus Station on Feb. 27, where they searched the luggage of a passenger and found 58 grams of crack cocaine and a quantity of prescription drugs.

The estimated street value is $18,500.

The 31-year-old man from Ottawa has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of marijuana. He appeared in court and remains in custody at the Thunder Bay District Jail.

A second bust conducted by the gang, drug and emergency task units that same morning on South Vickers Street turned up crack cocaine, marijuana and pills. They also located $49,575 in money.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, proceeds of crime and breach of probation. He appeared in court over the weekend and remains in custody at the District Jail.
