THUNDER BAY -- City residents haven’t seen winter temperatures climb yet, but they are seeing gas prices start to rise.

On Wednesday, most gas stations in Thunder Bay were selling gas at $1.129 per litre or $1.169 per litre.
Deanna Robinson was filling her car up at Superstore where gas as $1.099 per litre and said she doesn’t understand why there was such a big jump when the dollar is still down.

“Why are we not comparable to other places? Because it seems Thunder Bay, we’re always way above other places. Why is it I’m paying $36 to fill a very little car?” she said.

Also filling up his vehicle at Superstore, Tony, who wished not to give his last name, said he believes the prices jump because the gas companies are just out to make money.

“It’s still not that bad,” he said, of the $1.09.9 price.

“It’s going to be worse.”

The most expensive price within the city is the Esso on John Street Road at $1.19.9 per litre.

The lowest price, according to OntarioGasPrices.com, is on neighbouring Fort William First Nation at THP Variety and Gas Bar where gas is listed at 94.5 cents per litre.
