THUNDER BAY -- A morning water main break has city officials asking motorists to stay away from a section of Cumberland.

City of Thunder Bay work crews are at the site of the water main break on Cumberland and Clarke Streets, near the Dairy Queen.

Currently Cumberland Street from Nelson to Clarke Streets are closed to motorists.

The site of the water main break is near Court Street, but the hill forced the closure of the roadways below.

As of 11 a.m. city officials confirmed that at least 14 customers are without water on Clarke Street and another five have been left dry on Court Street as a result of this break.

It is unknown how long repairs will take.

While it is not confirmed whether the roadway is officially closed, crews on site said water on the road should give drivers a good reason to search for alternate routes this morning.

More information is expected later this morning.
