The City of Thunder Bay’s sunshine list has decreased slightly.

On Friday the province released its annual salary public-sector salary disclosure documents, which show that 241 City of Thunder Bay employees made in excess of $100,000 in 2014, eight fewer than the 249 that were on the list in 2013.

City manager Tim Commisso topped the municipal list, with an annual salary of $236,745. Commisso’s salary disclosure also lists $8,770 in taxable benefits.  He made $229,608 in 2013, with $8,850 in taxable benefits.

Police Chief J.P. Levesque was next on the municipal list, with a salary of $215,518 and taxable benefits of $14,647, while Fire Chief John Hay earned $163,058 with $1,159 in taxable benefits.  His brother, Deputy Police Chief Andy Hay, took home $190,987.

Together, firefighters and police made up the lion’s share of the city’s list, with nearly 170 members between them.

Ninety-four employees of the Thunder Bay Police Service made the list, while 74 employed by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue topped the $100,000 mark.

No one on the city payroll was close to being the highest-paid provincial or municipal employee in Thunder Bay.

Once again that honour belongs to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre president and CEO Andree Robichaud, who earned $399,246 in 2014.

Robichaud announced earlier this year she’ll be leaving Thunder Bay for a new post in the Greater Toronto Area.

She retook the title from St. Joseph’s Care Group’s mental health and addictions advisor Lois Hutchinson, who made $375,537 last year, about $30,000 less than in 2013.

A total of 178 employees at Thunder Bay Regional made more than $100,000 last year. Seventy-nine reached the plateau at St. Joseph's Care Group.

In total there were at least 977 people listed with ties to Thunder Bay organizations and bodies, not including Hydro One, OPG or the Ontario Power Authority.

Lakehead University president Brian Stevenson made, $360,049, while Thunder Bay Regional chief of staff Mark Henderson was paid $328,155. Henderson is also vice-president of Regional Cancer Care Ontario.

St. Joseph Care Group president and CEO Tracy Buckler made $326,626, while  medical officer of health David Williams earned $296,096.

St. Joseph's Care Group boasted 14 of the 17 locals on topping the $300,000 mark, all but Hutchinson and Buckler listed as psychiatrists.

Other salaries of interest include Confederation College president Jim Madder ($227,581), Lakehead Public Schools director of education Ian MacRae ($163,482) and his Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board counterpart Pino Tassone ($160,487).

At Queen's Park, Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle was paid $165,851 while his crosstown counterpart and Minister of Natural Resources Bill Mauro earned $158,306.

In total, more than 111,000 Ontario public-sector workers made more than $100,000 in 2014.
