THUNDER BAY -- Construction on Mission Road in Fort William First Nation is expected to resume this spring once the ground thaws.
The community started rehabilitating a 3.1 kilometre stretch of the road last fall for about $3 million.
Nearly $1 million was from the City of Thunder Bay, part of a century-old agreement between the two communities as compensation for the town of Fort William getting its water supply from Loch Lomond.
FWFN Chief Georjann Morriseau told Dougall Media traffic will be closed during construction and diverted through Little Lake Road.
The road re-opening will depend on completion of the project, which Morriseau said the community hopes will be for early fall.
