Man arrested at gunpoint after early morning weapons call

THUNDER BAY – City police arrested a man at gunpoint after an early morning weapon’s call Wednesday. Thunder Bay Police Service officials say officers responded to a disturbance call at a Grenville Street home just after 4 a.m.

Thunder Bay Police Service officials say officers responded to a disturbance call at a Grenville Street home just after 4 a.m.

As officers were ne route, the call was upgraded to a weapons call possibly involving a knife. Police were notified that the suspect was a man and had left the home.

A man matching the description of the suspect was found on Morse Street by Dewe Street.

The 35-year-old man was uncooperative with police and was arrested at gunpoint.

The man was brought to the Balmoral Street police station where he was formally charged with weapons dangerous to the public.

He is expected to appear in court April 1.

A 33-year-old woman victim sustained minor injuries during an altercation.

Witnesses and other individuals involved in this incident were said to be intoxicated and uncooperative with police.
