THUNDER BAY – City police have confirmed that their investigation into a north side convenience store robbery involved a possible handgun.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at the Mac’s Convenience Store on Red River Road just after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say a woman approached the checkout counter and pulled handgun out of small black purse and demanded money from a 24-year-old clerk.

The employee complied with the demands and the suspect fled the store on foot heading south on Picton Avenue.

The employee was not injured as a result of this incident.

The suspect is described as a woman standing five-feet-five-inches tall with a thin build. She was wearing a light coloured hoodie, dark coloured baggy pants and black running shoes.
