(KENORA, ON) Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Kenora Street Crime Unit (SCU), the Organized Crime and Enforcement Bureau-Kenora Drug Unit (OCEB)  and the Treaty Three Police Service have charged three people with drug related offences following an ongoing investigation.

On Wednesday April 8, 2015 police arrested three people following a suspected drug transaction in downtown Kenora.  The arrest and search of the subjects resulted in the seizure of a small amount of Hydromorphone.

As a result of this investigation, 28 year old Fabian Bird of Rainy River First Nations has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA). 

Two other people, Cheryl Cowley (24 yrs) and Zachary Leonard (28 yrs) both of Kenora have been charged with Trafficking a Schedule I Substance contrary to section 5(1) CDSA and with Possession of a Schedule I Substance (section 4(1) CDSA). 

Bird and Cowley are to appear in Kenora Court on May 15, 2015 to answer to the charges.  Leonard has been held pending a bail hearing.
