THUNDER BAY – A kitchen fire led to the temporary evacuation of a popular north-side restaurant.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue firefighters responded to the Made Fresh restaurant on Red River Road shortly after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
“There was a small grease fire in one of the ovens. One of the employees extinguished it upon arrival,” district chief Mark Ferrence said.
The fire was completely out by the time crews responded and there were no injuries reported by anybody inside the restaurant.
Ferrence said employees followed proper protocol in extinguishing the fire.
“They put it out with a dry chemical extinguisher,” he said. “Everything was contained to the oven.”
He said he doesn’t expect it to have any impact on the restaurant’s business.
