THUNDER BAY -- The decision on whether a local man accused in a fatal stabbing incident will stand trial for murder has been delayed for a second time.

Justice Frank Valente was initially expected to deliver his judgement on April 10 on whether Randel Wabasse, 23, would be committed to trial for second-degree murder in connection with the death of 46-year-old Adam Nicodemus Beaver, but the judge said his reasons weren't ready yet.

The matter was to be addressed Tuesday at the Thunder Bay Courthouse but the judge had not yet completed his judgement.

The decision is now scheduled to be delivered on May 6.

The murder charge followed reports of a stabbing at Andras Court, a South Cumberland apartment complex, on May 14, 2014 just after 8 a.m.

A three-day preliminary hearing began on March 16 and a dozen witnesses were expected to be called.

Wabasse remains in custody.

The incident was the city’s second homicide investigation of 2014.

None of the allegations against the accused have been proven in court.
