Tonight’s Thunder Bay city council meeting could see the start of the end of vehicle traffic along Red River Road.
Coun. Trevor Giertuga has put forward a memorandum, asking city staff to prepare a report on the feasibility of closing Red River Road between St. Paul Street, and Court Street.
Giertuga hopes that idea could create a pedestrian friendly boulevard, similar to those seen in other cities.
The McIntyre councillor says the idea could be scaled down, depending on what the report says.
Some of Giertuga's council colleagues say the idea is worth looking at.
Council is also set to receive its annual report from the Community Economic Development Commission at Monday night's meeting.
