THUNDER BAY – A fuel tanker on fire resulted in the brief closure of Rosslyn Road Friday afternoon.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews were called to Pye Brothers Fuels at about 2:45 p.m. after black smoke and flames were seen emerging from the cab of the vehicle.

Firefighters quickly responded to the vehicle, which was parked at the time of the fire, and extinguished the blaze before it spread to the tanker trailer.

The tanker trailer did not sustain any damage and was empty at the time of the fire.

As a precaution, several other tankers on the lot were moved.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded and briefly closed Rosslyn Road while firefighters extinguished the flames.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
