Thunder Bay Police have seized $8,400 worth of narcotics following a traffic stop early Monday morning on Balmoral Street.

After pulling a driver over for a speeding infraction, police say they observed a large Ziploc bag filled with what they believed to be marijuana totaling 484 grams.

A further search led to a seizure of 7.6 grams of cocaine, 18.4 grams of magic mushrooms and $19,215 in cash.

The 21-year-old male driver and his 16-year-old female passenger were charged with three possession offences apiece and will also each face a possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 charge.

Both suspects have been released on promises to appear in court.

The male cannot yet be named because the charges have not been sworn in court.

The female’s name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
