Driver in hot water, charged with impaired driving following highway crash

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On July 30, 2015 at 8:55 pm, officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a serious motor vehicle collision on the 800 Block of Kings Highway in the Town of Fort Frances.

Officers attended with emergency services, and as a result of an investigation, officers arrested a male driver at the scene. The driver Arron JOURDAIN, age 33 years of Couchiching First Nation was then transported to OPP Detachment for breath tests. The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for the mandatory 7 days. The driver was subsequently charged with:

• impaired operation of a motor vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
• driving with more than 80 milligrams blood alcohol content contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
• drive while suspended contrary to section 53 of the Highway Traffic Act (Part III Summons)
• left turn - fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision contrary to section 141(5) of the Highway Traffic Act (provincial offence notice issued)
• driving motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act (provincial offence notice issued)
