THUNDER BAY – Charges have been dropped against a woman suspected of being involved in a homicide case last year.

A charge of second-degree murder against Becky Mamawka was withdrawn at a previous preliminary hearing. Mamakwa was charged in the death of 52-year-old Christopher Adams, who died about a week after being beaten in the early morning hours of July 1, 2014 outside city hall.

Police have previously said they believe robbery was a motive in the attack, which happened at about 2:30 a.m.

Defence lawyer David Dubinsky said the Crown invited the judge to discharge Mamakwa after four days of evidence showed there was no proof she had participated in the assault.

Two men, Carl Rae and Kyle Stoney, are facing a manslaughter charge. They were previously charged with second-degree murder.
A pre-trial for Rae and Stoney has been scheduled for December.
