Red Lake highway blitz results in 17 charges

EAR FALLS -- Sixteen people have been charged under teh Highway Traffic Act and another under the Fish & Wildlife Conservation Act after a joint service traffic initative on Highway 105.

The Red Lake and Kenora divisions of the Ontario Provincial Police teamed up with the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry on Saturday to stop and check 275 vehicles south of Ear Falls.  

Two commercial motor vehicles were also inspected.

The OPP issued a release to media on Sunday, reminding motorists to follow speed limits, wear seatbelts and refrain from driving while distracted.
