THUNDER BAY -- Women's groups continue to protest the federal government's perceived inaction regarding missing and murdered Aboriginal women in Canada.

On Monday evening, the Ontario Native Women's Association held its annual Sisters in Spirit Vigil in honour of women and girls who have fallen victim to violence. Loved ones were invited to speak to the group of roughly 70 people who gathered outside the local ONWA office.

The speeches were followed by a tobacco ceremony. Interim Executive Director Coralee McGuire-Cyrette said she'll accept nothing less than a comprehensive national inquiry from the federal government.

McGuire-Cyrette calls it a national crisis and said it should be a federal election issue.
