Vancouver man charged with trafficking, 35 pounds of pot seized during traffic stop

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Kenora Canine Unit assisted by the Organized Crime and Enforcement Bureau-Kenora Drug Unit (OCEB), have charged a male in a drug related incident.

On Wednesday November 18, 2015 at approximately 4:00 pm, police conducted a traffic stop on an eastbound vehicle on Highway 17A in Kirkup Township.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of the male and search of the vehicle. Police located approximately 35 pounds of marijuana, along with an amount of Canadian Currency.

The street value of the drugs is estimated to be $88,000.

As a result of this investigation, a 26-year-old Vancouver man has been charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking-over 3 kg contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

He was also charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
He is to appear in Kenora court on Nov. 19 2015 for a bail hearing.
