OPP Media Update
(KENORA, ON) Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) K9 unit (KENORA) with assistance from the Organized Crime and Enforcement Bureau (OCEB)-Kenora Drug Unit, have charged a 51 year old man following a vehicle stop on Highway 17 in Kirkup Township.
Just before noon on Wednesday January 6, 2016 police stopped a vehicle for a traffic investigation. The police investigation resulted in the arrest of the male driver and a search of the vehicle. Police located approximately 18 grams of cocaine and a small amount of marihuana in the vehicle. The street value of the drugs is approximately $1800.
As a result of this investigation, a 51-year-old Rainy River First Nations man has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking-Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) and Possession of a Schedule II substance-Cannabis Marihuana under 30 grams section 4(1) CDSA.
He is to appear in Kenora court on February 18, 2016 to answer to the charge.
