THUNDER BAY – Bombardier will be shipping four TTC street cars a month starting next month, a company spokesman confirmed Thursday.

Marc-Andre Lefebvre says the company is confident they can continue to meet the deadlines put in place by the TTC.

“Right now everything is going as planned with discussions we’ve had with the TTC,” Lefebvre said during an interview with CKPR Radio Thursday.

“The Toronto Transit Commission has stated that the schedule we’ve submitted is achievable and they are holding us to it.”

Bombardier has a longstanding relationship with the TTC and have completed numerous contracts for Toronto’s mass transit system.

But the current street car contract has faced a number of delays, which has led to some tension between the manufacturer and its major client.

The TTC is in talks with Bombardier about a possible five per cent penalty

“That is something that is in resolution right now,” Lefebvre said.

“The contract we have with the Toronto Transit Commission clearly states a process to resolve any disputes and that is something that we are working on with the TTC.”

The contract promises to put 209 new streetcars in service for the TTC by 2019.
