THUNDER BAY -- A woman charged with an early Saturday morning murder in a south side hotel has been served with a detention order that will keep her in jail until at least Wednesday.
Thirty-three-year-old Pauline Cutfeet of Kichenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation appeared in court Sunday morning to respond to second degree murder charges in the death of 38-year-old Perry Bois from Fort Hope First Nation.
The court ruled Cutfeet will be detained at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre For Women while police conduct an investigation into the incident and speak to witnesses.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to the Victoria Inn at 1:25 a.m. Saturday where they found Bois on the floor in a hallway. He was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre where he was prounced dead within the hour.
Cutfeet was also charged with breach of probation and breach of recognizance, the latter of which stipulated she was not to have possessed any weapons without lawful excuse. She is being charged with possession of a knife.
A post-mortem examination is being conducted on Bois' body to determine the official cause of his death.
Police spokesman Chris Adams said Cutfeet and Bois knew each other but it was "a very short relationship."
