Week in crime: Seven reported sex assaults amid busy week in crime

THUNDER BAY – City police had their hands full with more than 261 reported incident last week, including seven reported sexual assaults.

The activity of the Thunder Bay Police Service was measured by crimereports.com and the following statistics were taken from the week of Monday, April 4 through Sunday, April 10.

Police responded to about 156 cases south of the Harbour Expressway, with another 105 reports being made on the north side of the Harbour Expressway.

The more than 261 incidents reported last week is an estimate and does not include traffic cases.
South of the Harbour Expressway, some of the more serious incidents included:

• 9 assaults
• 12 break and enters
• 4 sexual assaults
• 24 thefts
• 10 thefts from vehicles
• 1 thefts of a vehicle
• 5 weapons charges

Meanwhile, north of the Harbour Expressway some of the more serious incidents included:

• 9 assaults
• 4 break and enters
• 3 sexual assaults
• 15 thefts
• 2 thefts from vehicles
• 1 weapons charge

The vast majority of cases city police responded to were listed as either liquor, disorder and property crime.

The above numbers represent an estimate.
