THUNDER BAY – Gas prices are on the rise once again, this time jumping up nearly seven cents at some stations.

According to the online gas-price watchdog ontariogasprices.com, the highest reported per-litre cost of regular gasoline at a Thunder Bay gas bar was listed at $1.189 as of Wednesday afternoon.

Prices had already risen several cents leading into the May Long weekend.

Meanwhile, the cheapest gas price you’d find in Thunder Bay Wednesday was at the Superstore, where the price remained at $1.099.

At neighbouring Fort William First Nations, at least one gas bar featured prices below the dollar-per-litre mark. Rita’s Café and Gas Bar is reportedly selling fuel for 99.9-cents-a-litre.

The provincial average is also trending upwards, and now sits at $1.07 3-a-litre. That’s nearly identical to the national average, which is at $1.071-a-litre.
